Zeolite for your four-legged friend - everything around it

Many dog owners know this: their four-legged friend eats well, but their stomach rumbles. The stool is too soft, the coat looks dull, sometimes it smells stronger than before. After deworming, antibiotics, or a change of food, digestion is suddenly out of balance. And in the back of their mind, a quiet worry lingers: What if something is wrong? I want to help him – but gently and naturally.

Steinkraft Zeolite for Dogs: Because my well-being is in his hands

Dogs feel what is happening within us and within their own bodies. When their stomach is not at peace, we notice it immediately – in their gaze, their energy, their joy. Digestion in dogs is more than a physical process – it is part of their overall well-being.

For us at Steinkraft, zeolite is not just a ā€œfeed additive,ā€ but a piece of earth in its purest form – a mineral that reminds the body how self-regulation works. In this guide, you will learn how zeolite naturally supports your dog's organism, when its use is beneficial, and why quality is crucial.

Ā

Zeolite (Clinoptilolite) can be a valuable support. The finely ground, natural volcanic mineral can bind excess fluid, toxins, and acids in the intestine and harmonize the digestive tract – entirely without chemical additives. Many dog owners report that their dog feels better after a few days, the stool is formed again, and the coat regains its shine.

Labrador Retriever eats its dog food with zeolite from Steinkraft - an application example

Perhaps you have already considered trying zeolite – and wondered what exactly it does, how to dose it, and whether it is also suitable for your dog. In this comprehensive guide, you will find out everything you want to know: effects, dosage, application, studies, testimonials, and quality information – lovingly explained and based on scientifically sound knowledge.

The aim of this article is to give you security and knowledge – so that you understand how zeolite works in your dog's body, when it makes sense to give it, and how you can use it optimally.

At Steinkraft, we believe: Every dog has the right to well-being. And every dog owner deserves clarity on how to naturally support their darling's body.

Zeolite – the volcanic mineral that helps dogs stay in balance

Zeolite is a volcanic natural mineral with an extraordinary property: its crystal structure consists of millions of microscopic cavities. These act like a sponge for pollutants – they can bind ammonium, heavy metals, mycotoxins and other undesirable substances in the digestive tract and excrete them via the faeces. At the same time, minerals are released.
Clinoptilolite zeolite, as used in DOGKRAFT Zeolite, is a particularly pure and tribomechanically activated zeolite. The gentle pulverization opens the cavities and multiplies the binding capacity. This creates a fine, highly active rock flour that, as a feed additive, can support the body's natural detoxification performance – entirely without chemical additives.

When your dog can particularly benefit from zeolite

  1. If the dog's digestion is not in balance and harmony: i.e. with diarrhea

A feed optimized with zeolite can help improve dog digestion by removing excess fluids and toxins from the intestine, helping to regulate the pH value in the intestine, thereby preventing the growth of pathogenic bacteria, supporting the absorption of nutrients from food by improving intestinal permeability, contributing to reducing inflammation in the intestine and improving overall intestinal health.

TIP: Before starting intestinal rehabilitation for your dog, many veterinarians recommend optimizing the dog food with zeolite beforehand to prepare the intestine for the new microbiome by excreting toxins and preparing the intestinal lining.

  2. If theĀ skin and coat health of the dog can be improved:Ā

A dog food optimized with zeolite can help improve the coat of dogs by removing pollutants and toxins that would otherwise be excreted through the skin. The coat, as an extension of the skin, acts as a large detoxification surface. Also support your dog during sheddingĀ (twice a year).

  3. It can help reduce the smell of dog urine and feces:

by removing toxins and excess acids that are responsible for the unpleasant odor.

  4. If the dog's immune system needs support:

Zeolite can help strengthen dogs' immune systems by removing toxins that weaken the immune system. So just mix it into the food.

Effect, application, experience - My dog gets flaky skin and hair loss from a special food. Zeolite can help here.
  5. If the dog is very sluggish and tired:

It can help improve the performance of dogs by improving theĀ absorption of nutrients from food and keeping the gut healthy.
It can help improve the overall well-being of dogs by supporting digestion and removing toxins from the body.

  6. After an operation or medication phase, the body needs time to regain its balance. Zeolite can help here by binding toxins and naturally relieving the organism.

Or after vaccinations. Or deworming. All of this can lead to an accumulation of heavy metals in the dog's body.Ā

  7. If the dog lives in the city and walks between cars and exhaust fumes.Ā
STEINKRAFT Knowledge article: Zeolite for dogs - Well-founded knowledge simply explained - your complete guide

  8. If the dog food is contaminated with heavy metals.

Some studies have shown that zeolite can help remove heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury from the intestines of dogs. So add it to the food!

  9. If the dog food is contaminated with mycotoxins.

Mycotoxins are produced by molds and make many things difficult. Some dogs also eat things from the floor. Then zeolite certainly belongs in the food. Zeolite binds mycotoxins and removes them from the body.

  10. If the dog suffers fromĀ allergies.Ā

"At Steinkraft, we see zeolite as a bridge between nature and knowledge."

Are there already experiences with zeolite in dogs?

Yes, very many indeed. We observe our dogs when feeding them zeolite, as well as the dogs of our friends and neighbors, and of course we receive a lot of feedback from dog owners who have bought zeolite from us. We have collected these on our experience page.

Real reports from real customers. Our customers report fromĀ real life – honest, diverse, full of emotion. From sensitive stomachs to coat problems and new lightness in everyday life: Zeolite has already made a big difference in so many dog worlds.

Why dog owners choose zeolite – thoughts from real life

I finally wanted to know what was really good for my dog. ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…
Vera with dog Lilo (Retriever-Mix)

"Lilo always had soft stools and a loud rumbling stomach. After countless food changes, I didn't want to 'try' anything anymore, but to understand. When I read about zeolite, the idea of simply supporting the body in its own cleansing – not working against it – convinced me. After a week, her stools were firm, Lilo was lively again. It was like a sigh of relief – for both of us."

My gut told me: Try it – it's natural.Ā  ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…
Manuela with male Finn (Australian Shepherd)

"I'm not one to quickly buy something new. But I had the feeling that Finn just wasn't the same after his deworming. I didn't want anything chemical, but something that would gently bring him back into balance. Zeolite was my attempt – and it became routine. Today he gets it daily, and I feel like his body is thanking me."

I was afraid of doing everything wrong again.Ā  ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…
Claudia with senior Bella (Cocker Spaniel, 13 years old)

"Bella got old, and every food change was a risk. When she started leaving her food, I was desperate. Zeolite was my last attempt – gentle, natural, without side effects. She eats again, has a shiny coat, and looks at me with those alert eyes. I know I did the right thing."

I didn't want to constantly burden him with medication.Ā  ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…ā˜…
Thomas with male Balu (Labrador)

"Balu constantly had itching and regularly received tablets. At some point, I felt: This can't be it. I wanted to support him from within. Zeolite was my answer. Since then, his skin is calmer, and he hardly scratches himself anymore. I'm not an esotericism, but it just feels right."

Questions many dog owners have asked us – and our answers from experience

ā˜… Can zeolite be used for all dogs?

Yes, dog food can be optimized with zeolite for all dog breeds. Also at any age - from puppy to senior dog.

ā˜… How is zeolite administered?

Zeolite is administered in powdered form and can either be mixed directly into the food or stirred into water and added to the food. Make sure your dog drinks enough fluid when zeolite is administered. Our dog sometimes enjoys water with a splash of sheep's milk more. And he drinks more of it.
If your dog is taking medication, leave 2 hours between zeolite and medication administration.Ā

Effect, application, experience of zeolite for dogs - girl hugs her dog

ā˜… How can I use zeolite with dry food?

With wet food, the application is easy. Mix it in. This is also the original idea of zeolite for feed optimization. Mix it in homogeneously. Our experience with dry food: when the bag is freshly opened, the food is still slightly moist. (This is probably the wrong term for it - I think you know what I mean).

STEINKRAFT Zeolite Blog: How to dose zeolite for dogs correctly and how to use it?

What I mean is that the zeolite powder adheres well. That means just sprinkle it over and lightly turn the food. So that it doesn't scare the dog by looking like powdered sugar on top. I have also heard from customers who mix it into sheep's yogurt and pour it over the dry food. We also did this after Ezra, our Labrador Retriever, had an operation and had received a lot of medication. It was quasi a reconvalescence and detoxification cure afterwards. My mother gives her dog a special raw meal once a week, minced, and she mixes it in there. Bakku (since spring) naturally loved that. And now Winnie. Winnie is a divorce orphan and has found a perfect home with grandma and grandpa. She came quite anxious and with a lot of dandruff. We immediately brought them a large can and Winnie eats the zeolite powder without any problems. After 3 weeks, no more dandruff was there.

ā˜… How long does it take for zeolite to work?

The effect of zeolite can vary and depends on various factors, such as the size and health of the dog and the amount of toxins to be removed. As a rule, an improvement in digestion should be observed within a few days, while the removal of toxins may take a little longer.

Zeolite for Dogs Blog: Dog Diarrhea, Symptoms, Treatment, Prevention

It is important to administer zeolite regularly and adhere to the recommended dosages to achieve the best results. Stick with it. Sometimes we read: I’ve been feeding him zeolite for 3 days now and he’s still scratching… or something similar.

Bakku, my parents’ dog, used to get (now I have to say got) zeolite added to his food now and then. Every 2 weeks, mixed into minced meat. The next day he was always much more vital and jumped around like a young dog. According to my mom.

ā˜… Can zeolite help in treating certain health problems in dogs?

STEINKRAFT Zeolite for Dogs: The effect of clinoptilolite zeolite in tumor diseases of dogs - technical article

Zeolite can help in treating certain health problems in dogs, especially issues with digestion and diarrhea. It can help regulate the pH level in the intestines, remove excess fluids and toxins from the gut, and generally improve intestinal health. It can also help improve the absorption of nutrients from food and reduce inflammation in the intestines. However, it is important to note that zeolite is used to optimize the feed. This means mixing it well and homogenously into the feed.Ā

ā˜… Can zeolite help with diarrhea in dogs?

STEINKRAFT Zeolite for Dogs - Diarrhea in Dogs: Causes, Symptoms, and Home Remedies

Yes, absolutely. Zeolite leads to an improvement in gut health and also an improvement in stool quality. This is scientifically proven.
The study by JanuÅ”kevičius et al. (2013), published in Veterinarija ir Zootechnika (64(86):3–10), investigated the effects of clinoptilolite zeolite as a feed additive in adult dogs. The aim was to evaluate its effects on digestion, stool quality, and certain blood parameters.

Results:

  • Stool quality: Dogs in the zeolite group showed a significant improvement in stool consistency, with a reduction in moisture content, indicating better intestinal function.

  • Blood parameters: Positive changes were observed in blood values, including an increase in total protein content and lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels compared to the control group.

  • Nutrient utilization: The absorption of dry matter from feed was improved in the zeolite group, indicating more efficient nutrient utilization.

These results suggest that supplementing dog food with clinoptilolite zeolite can have positive effects on digestive health and certain metabolic parameters. As you can see, this study suggests that zeolite could serve as a natural feed additive to support gut function and overall health in dogs.

In summary: The addition ofĀ clinoptilolite zeoliteĀ to dog food led to a significant improvement in gut health and a reduction in moisture content in the stool. This also improved stool quality, which is particularly beneficial for indoor pet keeping.

ā˜… Are there any side effects when usingĀ zeolite in dogs?

Generally, side effects from using zeolite in dogs are very rare. However, it is important to adhere to the recommended dosages and ensure the dog drinks enough fluid when zeolite is administered. Due to its ability to remove toxins from the intestines, it can sometimes cause diarrhea or vomiting during the first few days of use as the body gets used to the zeolite powder. For some dogs, the volume of excretion increases. The intestines simply begin to empty more. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, or if the dog shows other unusual symptoms, you should consult a vet immediately. But that goes without saying.

This study JanuŔkevičius et al. (2013), Veterinarija ir Zootechnika 64(86):3-10 also clearly demonstrated that zeolite can be given to dogs, in this case, 10 female German Shepherds (2-4 years old), without any concerns. The study extended over several months, from the dogs' resting state through pregnancy to the lactation phase. In all phases, clinoptilolite administration was well tolerated and had positive effects on stool quality, blood parameters (there were fewer stress markers in the blood - which I like the most), and nutrient absorption.

ā˜… Can zeolite be used in combination with other supplements or medications?

No. Allow at least two hours between administrations.
After prolonged medication, injections, and surgeries, we recommend optimizing the food with zeolite.Ā

ā˜… From what age is zeolite recommended for dogs?

From puppy age. Zeolite positively influences the food, making nutrients more available and supplying our sweet darlings with trace elements and many natural minerals for bone development. Additionally, digestion can sometimes be unstable, and zeolite mineral powder can really help support it.

ā˜… Zeolite for older dogs too?

Yes, absolutely. And in old age, the addition is very important. Dogs need their whiskers and sensory hairs for better sensory perception. These vibrissae fall out and grow back regularly. In old age, it's a bit different. Something might not grow back as quickly. Zeolite supports the coat and hair growth positively. This is an important factor for older dogs. Whiskers and sensory hairs are absolutely necessary for a happy aging process in dogs.

ā˜… Can you use zeolite powder with wet and dry food?

Yes, with both feeding types. It’s easy to mix into wet food, and it also works with dry food. Just mix it in and place a bowl of water next to it.

ā˜… What should be considered regarding the quality of zeolite for dogs?

When choosing zeolite for dogs, it is important to pay attention to quality. The following factors should be considered:

  1. Purity: It is important that the zeolite is free from impurities and pollutants.
  2. Origin: It is recommended to buy zeolite from trustworthy manufacturers who source their zeolite from traceable origins and know the excavation site. Not all excavation sites have the composition that zeolite must have as a feed optimizer.Ā
  3. Processing: The quality of zeolite can be influenced by how it has been processed. It is important that the zeolite has been carefully processed to maintain its effectiveness. Tribomechanically pulverized is important, as the cavities are broken open and not crushed. This creates space for the pollutants that need to be bound.
  4. Particle size:
It is important that the zeolite particles are the correct size to effectively bind pollutants. A medium grain size of 14 microns is perfect for dogs.Ā

ā˜… How can zeolite be used externally in dogs?Ā

  1. Zeolite powder can be used as a dry shampoo by applying it to the coat and massaging it in. It helps to remove impurities and pollutants from the coat.
  2. As zeolite gel: Zeolite gel can be used as a skin care product by applying it to the affected area. It can help relieve pain and inflammation and accelerate wound healing. Add zeolite powder to aloe vera gel and stir it gently. This way you create your own suspension.
Dogs during coat change - Zeolite helps with itching. More on this [+ with many practical tips]

  3. As zeolite solution: Zeolite solution can be used as a rinse by rubbing it into the coat after washing. It helps to remove pollutants and impurities from the coat. And above all, this zeolite rinse takes away many odors that have settled in the coat. Instructions for DIY coat sprays can be found in the article: Dog coat change - tips for less hair and a healthy coat.
  4. As zeolite ointment: apply this ointment to wounds, for example, to areas where dogs like to lie down and then lose their fur. Gently massage in to stimulate skin and fur growth there again.

ā˜… How to dose zeolite correctly for dogs? Zeolite dosage - How much zeolite for dogs?

STEINKRAFT Zeolite for dogs is particularly economical and effective due to its fine pulverization. Dosage instructions: 5 kg body weight 1-2g zeolite added to food, 10kg dog body weight 2-3g zeolite added, 20kg body weight 3-5kg added

The AGES, the Austrian feed authority, stipulates not to exceed 1%.

So, if your dog weighs 5kg, he probably eats between 200-400g. Depending on. Then you add 1-2g to the dog food.

If your dog eats 400-600g, then you optimize the dog food with 2-3g.

If you feed 600-1000g - our dog gets this, he weighs 24kg and eats 800g (and quite a few treats) plus about half a large measuring spoon of zeolite daily. (Up to the line in the middle of the large measuring spoon from the 450g can, it's less than 5g and costs 27 cents daily).

If your dog eats between 1kg - 1.5kg - then you can add at least 5-7g to the food.

Ā

Zeolite for Dogs Blog: Dosage and application for diarrhea

Our 250g can includes a small measuring spoon. It holds 5g when level. This daily zeolite dose costs 29 cents, or EUR 0.29.
The large 450g can has a larger measuring spoon: it holds about 14g. It has a line in the middle, where you can easily measure half.

PLEASE NOTE: Other zeolite products on the market are coarser and therefore require a higher dosage. DOGKRAFT Zeolite for dogs has a medium particle size of 14 microns. This means that this zeolite has a really large effective surface area. The result is that you can dose more sparingly, making it more sustainable. This means you need less, save money, and help use our earth's resources responsibly.

ā˜… How long should zeolite be given to a dog or added to their food?

Either as a course for 6-8 weeks, twice a year. In spring and autumn, when the coat changes, a detox or cleansing cure can greatly support the organism.
Or optimize the feed daily with zeolite. As a preventive measure and for wellness. And to relieve the detoxification organs. Our dog gets the powder daily. He gets delicious wet food - he loves it - from a "tin can," so I want to enrich the dog food daily with zeolite, which binds harmful substances.

ā˜… Does zeolite help with diarrhea?

Zeolite for dogs: Diarrhea knowledge article

Yes, absolutely. Zeolite can be imagined as a very effective rock sponge, with many cavities that bind toxins in the intestines. This calms digestion.

Zeolite can be a very effective and natural support in treating diarrhea in dogs. It works by adsorbing toxins, regulating pH, strengthening the intestinal barrier, binding water, and promoting the healing of intestinal irritations.

ā˜… What are alternatives to zeolite for dogs?

There are a number of alternatives, although they are NOT REALLY ALTERNATIVES to zeolite for our four-legged friends. However, the following substances can also be used to improve well-being and digestion:

  1. Probiotics: Probiotics are microbial life that supports the health of the digestive tract and can help remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines. Actually, to convert them.
  2. Enzymes: Enzymes are proteins that accelerate specific chemical reactions in the body. They can help improve digestion and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines.
  3. Fiber: Fiber is plant-based fiber that can help improve digestion and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines.
  4. Vegetable oils: Vegetable oils, such as flaxseed oil, can help improve digestion and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines.

"I tried zeolite for my dog a few months ago because I had heard it could help improve digestion and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines. I must say, I'm really impressed with the results! Since we started adding zeolite to his food once a day, his coat has felt much shinier and healthier and he's had fewer problems with diarrhea. I would definitely recommend trying it if you want to do something good for your dog." *****
Elisabeth K.

ā˜… Use of zeolite in older dogs

Zeolite can also be used in older dogs as a supplementary feed to support their physical well-being and alleviate possible problems. Here are a few examples of how zeolite could be used in older dogs:

  1. Support for digestion: With increasing age, dogs can have digestive problems, such as constipation or diarrhea. The intestines no longer function as smoothly, and the intestinal lining can be colonized with many harmful substances. Zeolite can help to improve digestion and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines. In a completely natural way. Simply add it to the food!

  2. Relief of pain and inflammation: Zeolite can also help to relieve pain and inflammation by improving blood circulation and accelerating wound healing.
  3. Improvement of kidney function: Zeolite can also help to improve kidney function in older dogs by removing harmful substances and toxins from the intestines and regulating the pH value.
  4. Support of whisker growth: Zeolite stimulates coat health and thus hair growth. Older dogs need their fine whiskers even more, and therefore they must be encouraged to grow back. Zeolite does that.

ā˜… What exactly does zeolite bind in a dog's body?

Zeolite is a natural mineral known for its ability to bind and remove harmful substances and toxins from the intestines. It can bind heavy metals, mycotoxins, and other toxins absorbed through food, as well as waste products and toxins produced by bacteria in the intestines.

We speak of sorption series. These can naturally vary and depend on several factors (pH value, origin, grain size and grinding of the zeolite, number of ions in the intestine, etc.)

Basically, for zeolite from our quarry (Eastern Slovakia - Prof. Karl Hecht recommends this quarry due to the optimal composition of natural zeolite), the following sorption series can be assumed:

Mercury, Ammonium, Lead, Histamine, Aluminum, Benzidine, Cesium.

If zeolite binds substances, are not the important vitamins, nutrients, and whatever else is in the food also bound and transported away before the body can absorb them? - A. asked us this question recently. It is also almost the most frequently asked question. Completely understandable!!

Our answer is: no, vitamins and nutrients are not bound because they are far too large and cannot remain at the docking points. The same applies to proteins.

Here are a few colloquial synonyms for zeolite - how zeolite is sometimes called

  1. Clinoptilolite ā™”āœ”ļø
  2. Healing clay
  3. Mineral clay
  4. Heavy metal absorber
  5. Toxin catcher
  6. Detoxifier
  7. Detoxification agent
  8. Rock flour
  9. Volcanic mineral

These terms are sometimes used as an alternative to "Zeolite". And some are different.

If you start optimizing your dog's food with zeolite, you will quickly notice: Digestion calms down, stools become firmer, the coat shines, and your dog appears more balanced. Such changes don't happen overnight, but step by step – just like everything that works naturally.

The goal is not to mask symptoms, but to support your dog holistically. Zeolite supports exactly where the body wants to regulate itself. That's why it is so popular with dog owners who value naturalness, sustainability, and mindfulness.

Listen to your gut feeling – you know your dog best. And if you feel that they might need a little support from within, zeolite can be a gentle but effective way.

Zeolite is not a trend product – it is a gift from the earth. In its pure, tribomechanically activated form, it works where balance originates: in the gut.

At Steinkraft, we see zeolite as part of a larger attitude: mindfulness towards the animal, respect for nature, and trust in the self-regulating power of life.

When you enrich your dog's food with zeolite, you give them more than nutrients – you give them lightness, vitality, and the feeling of being completely at home in their own body again.

DOGKRAFT Zeolite by Steinkraft is pure, finely ground, and tribomechanically activated – for maximum binding power and minimal dosage.
This is how you support your dog naturally – day after day, with love, knowledge, and responsibility.

Was ich denn dazu sage.

1000 Dank Tessa
