★ Can zeolite be used for all dogs?

Yes, dog food can be optimized with zeolite for all dog breeds. Also at any age - from puppy to senior dog.

★ How is zeolite administered?

Zeolite is administered in powdered form and can either be mixed directly into the food or stirred into water and added to the food. Make sure your dog drinks enough fluid when zeolite is administered. Our dog sometimes enjoys water with a splash of sheep's milk more. And he drinks more of it.
If your dog is taking medication, leave 2 hours between zeolite and medication administration. 

★ How can I use zeolite with dry food?

With wet food, the application is easy. Mix it in. This is also the original idea of zeolite for feed optimization. Mix it in homogeneously. Our experience with dry food: when the bag is freshly opened, the food is still slightly moist. (This is probably the wrong term for it - I think you know what I mean).

What I mean is that the zeolite powder adheres well. That means just sprinkle it over and lightly turn the food. So that it doesn't scare the dog by looking like powdered sugar on top. I have also heard from customers who mix it into sheep's yogurt and pour it over the dry food. We also did this after Ezra, our Labrador Retriever, had an operation and had received a lot of medication. It was quasi a reconvalescence and detoxification cure afterwards. My mother gives her dog a special raw meal once a week, minced, and she mixes it in there. Bakku (since spring) naturally loved that. And now Winnie. Winnie is a divorce orphan and has found a perfect home with grandma and grandpa. She came quite anxious and with a lot of dandruff. We immediately brought them a large can and Winnie eats the zeolite powder without any problems. After 3 weeks, no more dandruff was there.

★ How long does it take for zeolite to work?

It is important to administer zeolite regularly and adhere to the recommended dosages to achieve the best results. Stick with it. Sometimes we read: I’ve been feeding him zeolite for 3 days now and he’s still scratching… or something similar.

Bakku, my parents’ dog, used to get (now I have to say got) zeolite added to his food now and then. Every 2 weeks, mixed into minced meat. The next day he was always much more vital and jumped around like a young dog. According to my mom.

★ Can zeolite help with diarrhea in dogs?

The study by Januškevičius et al. (2013), published in Veterinarija ir Zootechnika (64(86):3–10), investigated the effects of clinoptilolite zeolite as a feed additive in adult dogs. The aim was to evaluate its effects on digestion, stool quality, and certain blood parameters.

Results:

• Stool quality: Dogs in the zeolite group showed a significant improvement in stool consistency, with a reduction in moisture content, indicating better intestinal function.

• Blood parameters: Positive changes were observed in blood values, including an increase in total protein content and lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels compared to the control group.

• Nutrient utilization: The absorption of dry matter from feed was improved in the zeolite group, indicating more efficient nutrient utilization.
  
  These results suggest that supplementing dog food with clinoptilolite zeolite can have positive effects on digestive health and certain metabolic parameters. As you can see, this study suggests that zeolite could serve as a natural feed additive to support gut function and overall health in dogs.

In summary: The addition of clinoptilolite zeolite to dog food led to a significant improvement in gut health and a reduction in moisture content in the stool. This also improved stool quality, which is particularly beneficial for indoor pet keeping.

★ Are there any side effects when using zeolite in dogs?

Generally, side effects from using zeolite in dogs are very rare. However, it is important to adhere to the recommended dosages and ensure the dog drinks enough fluid when zeolite is administered. Due to its ability to remove toxins from the intestines, it can sometimes cause diarrhea or vomiting during the first few days of use as the body gets used to the zeolite powder. For some dogs, the volume of excretion increases. The intestines simply begin to empty more. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, or if the dog shows other unusual symptoms, you should consult a vet immediately. But that goes without saying.

This study Januškevičius et al. (2013), Veterinarija ir Zootechnika 64(86):3-10 also clearly demonstrated that zeolite can be given to dogs, in this case, 10 female German Shepherds (2-4 years old), without any concerns. The study extended over several months, from the dogs' resting state through pregnancy to the lactation phase. In all phases, clinoptilolite administration was well tolerated and had positive effects on stool quality, blood parameters (there were fewer stress markers in the blood - which I like the most), and nutrient absorption.

★ Can zeolite be used in combination with other supplements or medications?

No. Allow at least two hours between administrations.
After prolonged medication, injections, and surgeries, we recommend optimizing the food with zeolite. 

★ From what age is zeolite recommended for dogs?

From puppy age. Zeolite positively influences the food, making nutrients more available and supplying our sweet darlings with trace elements and many natural minerals for bone development. Additionally, digestion can sometimes be unstable, and zeolite mineral powder can really help support it.

★ Zeolite for older dogs too?

Yes, absolutely. And in old age, the addition is very important. Dogs need their whiskers and sensory hairs for better sensory perception. These vibrissae fall out and grow back regularly. In old age, it's a bit different. Something might not grow back as quickly. Zeolite supports the coat and hair growth positively. This is an important factor for older dogs. Whiskers and sensory hairs are absolutely necessary for a happy aging process in dogs.

★ Can you use zeolite powder with wet and dry food?

Yes, with both feeding types. It’s easy to mix into wet food, and it also works with dry food. Just mix it in and place a bowl of water next to it.

★ What should be considered regarding the quality of zeolite for dogs?

When choosing zeolite for dogs, it is important to pay attention to quality. The following factors should be considered:

1. Purity: It is important that the zeolite is free from impurities and pollutants.
2. Origin: It is recommended to buy zeolite from trustworthy manufacturers who source their zeolite from traceable origins and know the excavation site. Not all excavation sites have the composition that zeolite must have as a feed optimizer. 
3. Processing: The quality of zeolite can be influenced by how it has been processed. It is important that the zeolite has been carefully processed to maintain its effectiveness. Tribomechanically pulverized is important, as the cavities are broken open and not crushed. This creates space for the pollutants that need to be bound.
4. 
   Particle size: It is important that the zeolite particles are the correct size to effectively bind pollutants. A medium grain size of 14 microns is perfect for dogs. 

★ How can zeolite be used externally in dogs? 

1. Zeolite powder can be used as a dry shampoo by applying it to the coat and massaging it in. It helps to remove impurities and pollutants from the coat.
2. As zeolite gel: Zeolite gel can be used as a skin care product by applying it to the affected area. It can help relieve pain and inflammation and accelerate wound healing. Add zeolite powder to aloe vera gel and stir it gently. This way you create your own suspension.
   
   
   
   
3. As zeolite solution: Zeolite solution can be used as a rinse by rubbing it into the coat after washing. It helps to remove pollutants and impurities from the coat. And above all, this zeolite rinse takes away many odors that have settled in the coat. ★ How to dose zeolite correctly for dogs? Zeolite dosage - How much zeolite for dogs?

The AGES, the Austrian feed authority, stipulates not to exceed 1%.

So, if your dog weighs 5kg, he probably eats between 200-400g. Depending on. Then you add 1-2g to the dog food.

If your dog eats 400-600g, then you optimize the dog food with 2-3g.

If you feed 600-1000g - our dog gets this, he weighs 24kg and eats 800g (and quite a few treats) plus about half a large measuring spoon of zeolite daily. (Up to the line in the middle of the large measuring spoon from the 450g can, it's less than 5g and costs 27 cents daily).

If your dog eats between 1kg - 1.5kg - then you can add at least 5-7g to the food.

 

Our 250g can includes a small measuring spoon. It holds 5g when level. This daily zeolite dose costs 29 cents, or EUR 0.29.
The large 450g can has a larger measuring spoon: it holds about 14g. It has a line in the middle, where you can easily measure half.

PLEASE NOTE: Other zeolite products on the market are coarser and therefore require a higher dosage. DOGKRAFT Zeolite for dogs has a medium particle size of 14 microns. This means that this zeolite has a really large effective surface area. The result is that you can dose more sparingly, making it more sustainable. This means you need less, save money, and help use our earth's resources responsibly.

★ How long should zeolite be given to a dog or added to their food?

Either as a course for 6-8 weeks, twice a year. In spring and autumn, when the coat changes, a detox or cleansing cure can greatly support the organism.

If zeolite binds substances, are not the important vitamins, nutrients, and whatever else is in the food also bound and transported away before the body can absorb them? - A. asked us this question recently. It is also almost the most frequently asked question. Completely understandable!!

Our answer is: no, vitamins and nutrients are not bound because they are far too large and cannot remain at the docking points. The same applies to proteins.
