★ Can zeolite be used for all dogs?

Yes, dog food can be optimized with zeolite for all dog breeds. Also at any age - from puppies to senior dogs.

★ How is zeolite administered?

Zeolite is administered in powdered form and can either be mixed directly into food or stirred into water and added to the food. Make sure your dog drinks enough fluids when zeolite is administered. Our dog sometimes enjoys drinking water with a splash of sheep's milk more. And he drinks more of it too.
If your dog is taking medication, leave 2 hours between zeolite and medication administration.

★ How can I use zeolite with dry food?

With wet food, the application is easy. Mix it in. This is also the original idea behind zeolite for feed optimization. Mix it in homogeneously. Our experience with dry food: when the bag is freshly opened, the food is still slightly moist. (This is probably the wrong term for it - I think you know what I mean).

What I mean is that the zeolite powder adheres well. This means simply sprinkle it over and gently turn the food. So that it doesn't scare the dog off by looking like powdered sugar on top. I have also heard from customers who stir it into sheep's yogurt and pour it over the dry food. We did that too after Ezra, our Labrador Retriever, had an operation and received many medications. As a sort of recovery and detoxification cure afterwards. My mother gives her dog a special raw meal once a week, minced, and she mixes it in. Bakku (since spring) naturally loved that. And now Winnie. Winnie is an orphan of divorce and has found a perfect home with grandma and grandpa. She came quite anxious and with a lot of dandruff. We immediately brought them a large can and Winnie eats the zeolite powder without any fuss. After 3 weeks, no more dandruff.

★ How long does it take for zeolite to work?

The effect of zeolite can vary and depends on various factors, such as the size and health condition of the dog and the amount of toxins that need to be removed. Generally, an improvement in digestion should be observed within a few days, while the removal of toxins may take a little longer.

It is important to administer zeolite regularly and adhere to the recommended dosages to achieve the best results. Stick with it. Sometimes we read: I've been feeding him zeolite for 3 days now and he's still scratching... or something similar.

Bakku, my parents' dog, sometimes (now I have to say used to) got zeolite added to his food. About every 2 weeks mixed into minced meat. The next day he was always much more vital and jumped around like a young dog, according to Mom.

★ Can zeolite help with diarrhea in dogs?

The study by Januškevičius et al. (2013), published in Veterinarija ir Zootechnika (64(86):3–10), investigated the effects of clinoptilolite zeolite as a feed additive in adult dogs. The aim was to evaluate the effects on digestion, stool quality and certain blood parameters.

Results:

Stool Quality: Dogs in the zeolite group showed a significant improvement in stool consistency, with a reduction in moisture content, indicating better intestinal function.

Blood Parameters: Positive changes were observed in blood values, including an increase in total protein content as well as lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels compared to the control group.

Nutrient Utilization: The absorption of dry matter from the feed was improved in the zeolite group, indicating more efficient nutrient utilization.

These results suggest that supplementing dog food with clinoptilolite zeolite can have positive effects on digestive health and certain metabolic parameters. As you can see, this study suggests that zeolite could serve as a natural feed additive to support intestinal function and overall health in dogs.

So, in summary: The addition of clinoptilolite zeolite to dog food led to a significant improvement in gut health and a reduction in the moisture content of the feces. This also improved stool quality, which is particularly beneficial for indoor pet keeping.

★ Are there any side effects when using zeolite in dogs?

In general, side effects when using zeolite in dogs are very rare. However, it is important to adhere to the recommended dosages and ensure that the dog consumes sufficient fluids when zeolite is administered. Due to its ability to remove toxins from the intestines, diarrhea or vomiting may sometimes occur in the first few days of use while the body adjusts to the zeolite powder. In some dogs, the volume of stool increases. The intestines simply begin to empty more. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, or if the dog shows other unusual symptoms, you should consult a veterinarian immediately. But that's clear anyway.

In this study Januškevičius et al. (2013), Veterinarija ir Zootechnika 64(86):3-10 it was also clearly proven that zeolite can be given to dogs, in this case 10 German Shepherds (2-4 years old), without any concerns. The study extended over several months, from the resting state of the bitches through pregnancy to the lactation phase. In all phases, clinoptilolite administration was well tolerated and had positive effects on stool quality, blood parameters (there were fewer stress markers in the blood - which I like most) and nutrient absorption.

★ Can zeolite be used in combination with other supplements or medications?

No. Allow at least two hours between applications.
After prolonged medication, injections, and surgeries, we recommend optimizing food with zeolite.

★ At what age is zeolite recommended for dogs?

From puppy age. Zeolite positively influences food, making nutrients more available and supplying our sweet darlings with trace elements and many natural minerals for bone development. Additionally, digestion is sometimes unstable, and zeolite rock flour can provide excellent support.

★ Zeolite for older dogs too?

Yes, absolutely. And in old age, the addition is also very important. Dogs need their whiskers and beard hairs for better sensory perception. These vibrissae fall out repeatedly and also grow back faithfully. In old age, it's a bit different. It may happen that something doesn't grow back as quickly. Zeolite positively supports the coat and also hair growth. This is an important factor in older dogs. Whiskers and beard hairs are absolutely necessary for dogs to age happily.

★ Can zeolite powder be used with wet and dry food?

Yes, with both feeding forms. It's easy to mix into wet food, and it works with dry food too. Just mix it in and place a bowl of water next to it.

★ What should be considered regarding the quality of zeolite for dogs?

It is important to pay attention to the quality of zeolite for dogs. The following factors should be considered:

Purity: It is important that the zeolite is free from impurities and pollutants.

Origin: It is advisable to purchase zeolite from trustworthy manufacturers who source their zeolite from traceable sources. And who know the mining site. Not all mining sites have the composition that zeolite must have as a feed optimizer.

Processing: The quality of the zeolite can be influenced by how it has been processed. It is important that the zeolite has been carefully processed to maintain its effectiveness. So tribomechanically pulverized is important, as the cavities are broken open and not crushed. This creates space for the pollutants that need to be bound.

Particle size: It is important that the zeolite particles are the correct size to effectively bind pollutants. A medium grain size of 14 microns is perfect for dogs.

★ How can zeolite be used externally in dogs?

Zeolite powder can be used as a dry shampoo by applying it to the coat and massaging it in. It helps remove impurities and contaminants from the coat.

As zeolite gel: Zeolite gel can be used as a skin care product by applying it to the affected area. It can help relieve pain and inflammation and accelerate wound healing. Add zeolite powder to aloe vera gel and stir it gently. This way, you create your own suspension.

As a zeolite solution: Zeolite solution can be used as a rinse by rubbing it into the coat after washing. It helps remove pollutants and impurities from the coat. And above all, this zeolite rinse carries away many odors that have settled in the coat. As a zeolite ointment: apply this ointment to wounds, for example, on areas where dogs like to lie and then lose fur. Gently massage it in to stimulate skin and fur growth again.

★ How to dose zeolite for dogs correctly? Dosage of zeolite - How much zeolite for dogs?

AGES, the Austrian feed authority, stipulates not to exceed 1%.

So, if your dog weighs 5kg, it probably eats between 200-400g. Depending on that. Then you add 1-2g to the dog food.

If your dog eats 400-600g, then you optimize the dog food with 2-3g.

If you feed 600-1000g - our dog gets that, he weighs 24kg and eats 800g (and some treats) and almost half a large measuring spoon of zeolite daily. (Up to the line in the middle of the large measuring spoon from the 450g can, it's less than 5g and costs 27 cents daily).

If your dog eats between 1kg - 1.5kg - then you can add at least 5-7g to the food.

Our 250g container includes a small measuring spoon. It holds 5g when leveled. This daily zeolite dose costs 29 cents, or EUR 0.29.
The large 450g container has a larger measuring spoon, which holds approximately 14g. It has a line in the middle for easy halving.

PLEASE NOTE: Other zeolite products on the market are coarser, and therefore more must be dosed. DOGKRAFT Zeolite for dogs has a medium particle size of 14 microns. Therefore, this zeolite has a truly large active surface area. The result is that you can dose more sparingly, making it more sustainable. This means you need less, save money, and help responsibly utilize our Earth's resources.

★ How long should zeolite be given or fed to a dog?

Either as a course for 6-8 weeks, twice a year. Spring and autumn, when the coat changes, a detox or purification treatment can greatly support the organism.
Or optimize the feed daily with zeolite. As a preventative and wellness measure. And to relieve the detoxification organs. Our dog gets the powder daily. He gets delicious wet food - he loves it - from a "tin can," so I want to enrich the dog food daily with zeolite, which binds pollutants.

★ Does zeolite help with diarrhea?

Yes, and how. You have to imagine zeolite as a very effective rock sponge, with many cavities that bind pollutants in the intestine. This calms digestion.

Our answer is: no, vitamins and nutrients are not bound because they are too large and cannot remain at the docking points. The same applies to proteins.
