Gardening in autumn

The golden autumn is not only a time to enjoy the splendor of colors, but also an important phase of the gardening year. We're often asked: When should we use our products? We're using the transition period to compile these topics and make them available for you to read.

Loving autumn magic in the garden: What your soil needs now

Autumn is more than a season—it's a magical transition in which nature prepares for rest before blooming again in full splendor next spring. As a passionate product developer at Steinkraft, I share a message today that comes directly from my green-beating heart: Let's give the soil the love and care it deserves in autumn. Because what your soil needs and receives now will make it shine next year.

A time of letting go and preparation

Autumn is a time of letting go—the leaves fall, nature retreats. But while the outward splendor fades, an invisible transformation begins behind the scenes. And this is where our mission comes in. What does the soil need in autumn? It needs your attention, your care, and an extra dose of love.

One point you can make: Soil care with heart. Autumn is the ideal opportunity to prepare your soil for the coming season. And with natural helpers like lime, zeolite, vermiculite, microorganisms, and basalt, we can work wonders. Your soil longs for nutrient-rich support, protection from frost, and the activation of its inner life. What should you do in the garden in autumn?

Let's pamper the soil together. Imagine your soil blooming next spring—gorgeous flowers, lush vegetables, a vibrant oasis. It all begins in the fall. Let's pamper the soil as it deserves. Let's give it zeolite as a gentle hug, lime as a loving smile, vermiculite as a soft blanket, microorganisms as fresh energy, and basalt as powerful nourishment.

The Magic of Autumn in Your Garden Autumn holds a very special magic that we can experience together in our gardens. The love you put into your soil will return next year in the form of colors, aromas, and fruits. Your garden will shine in all its glory, and you'll know you were part of this magical transformation.

So, what to do now in autumn for the soil in the garden:

1. Soil preparation: Lime and zeolite for a good basic supply. Autumn is the ideal time to prepare the soil for the coming season. Lime and zeolite play a crucial role here. Lime regulates the pH and creates optimal conditions for plant growth. Adding micronized lime ensures better absorption by the plants. This means the lime can then be absorbed by the plant roots. Otherwise, it just sits in the soil. Okay. It loosens it up; we add lime to the soil so that it can take effect. Zeolite, known as a soil improver, ensures greater water retention capacity and nutrient availability in the soil. To be more precise: Coarse zeolite is used to loosen the soil. For zeolite to absorb water, or a lot of water, it must be fine. Tribomechanically ground—or more accurately, powdered—zeolite supports the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of the soil through its electrostatic charge. This allows the nutrients to migrate to the plant roots and be attracted to them. For this to happen, the soil needs a basic energy. Otherwise, nothing moves. And that's right: microorganisms are also involved; the soil environment is important for cation exchange to occur.

2. Protection from cold: Vermiculite for optimal soil structure. The cold temperatures of winter can put a strain on the soil. This is where vermiculite comes in. It improves soil structure, increases water retention capacity , and protects plant roots from frost damage. Vermiculite allows the roots to absorb nutrients more efficiently, thus promoting healthy plant growth.

3. Activating soil life: Microorganisms for vitality. Vital soil is key to healthy plant growth. Microorganisms play a central role in this. The addition of high-quality microorganisms stimulates soil biology, leading to better nutrient cycling and increased soil fertility. This is especially important in the fall to prepare the soil for the next growing season.

4. Natural minerals: Basalt for a sustainable soil supply. Basalt rock, or primary rock flour as it is often called, is a natural source of minerals and trace elements. Adding basalt flour in the autumn months enriches the soil with important nutrients over the long term. The minerals are released slowly and are available to plants over a longer period. AND: Basalt helps stabilize and realign the Earth's magnetic field. Not just any basalt. For STEINKRAFT, we use basalt that has a strong effect on the magnetic field. Tested with a special device from Australia by TERRAFELIX .

5. Focus on sustainability: Holistic soil care. As a hobby gardener and managing director of Steinkraft, it's important to me to care for our soil in a natural and sustainable way. Our products—zeolite, lime, vermiculite, microorganisms, and basalt—work in harmony with nature to strengthen the soil for healthy plant growth. Because only healthy soil enables us to cultivate magnificent gardens and produce fresh, nutrient-rich harvests.

Conclusion: Soil care in autumn for a flourishing future. The autumn months offer a unique opportunity to prepare our soil for the challenges of winter while laying the foundation for a successful gardening season next year. With a holistic approach based on natural helpers such as lime, zeolite, vermiculite, microorganisms, and basalt/primordial rock flour, we can give our soil the best of nature – for a flourishing future, from nature for nature.

Get your garden ready for the coming season and rely on natural soil care. Your plants will thank you!
