Questions about zeolite for horses and answers FAQs

Powder or pellets? What's the difference?

Zeolite in pellet form for horses?

The decision between zeolite pellets and zeolite powder is truly a matter of personal preference. Both forms have the same fine grain size of 24 microns . The pellets consist of this powder, which is pressed (without additives!) into 4 mm diameter pellets . According to the Austrian Feed Safety Authority (AGES), both forms must be mixed into the feed.

Let me show you how easy the dosage is. Pellets are particularly convenient because they don't produce dust and are easy to dose . This is one of the main reasons we offer them—following popular customer requests. However, some horse owners prefer the powder. Whether in mash or sprinkled over hay, horses accept it well. You can order a sample pack to find out if your horse likes the pellets. Some horses reject the pellets, and in such cases, the powder is the better choice. Ultimately, your horse will decide which form suits him better.

Advantages of zeolite pellets:

1. Easy to handle: Zeolite pellets are easy to dose because they come in even portions. This makes daily feeding simple and precise. Even when other people are feeding, this gives many horse owners peace of mind because the pellets are easy to handle.

2. Dust-free: Pellets don't produce dust, which is more pleasant for both horses and their owners. Pellets are a perfect choice, especially for those with dust allergies.

3. High acceptance: Many horses enjoy eating pellets, firstly because they are used to and familiar with the shape and secondly because they can be easily mixed with other feed and also dissolve quickly.

4. Versatility: Pellets can be used in a variety of ways and are convenient for use in feeders, making daily feeding easier.

5. Natural ingredients: HORSEKRAFT zeolite pellets contain no additives such as sugar or synthetic binders. They consist exclusively of natural ingredients, namely clinoptilolite zeolite.

6. Price match with powder: Despite the more complex manufacturing process, our zeolite pellets cost the same as the powder. The pellet bucket holds 5 kg, while the powder bucket holds 3 kg.

Occasionally, horses tend to sort out pellets and play with them. Then dissolve them in a little water.

Conclusion:

Zeolite pellets or zeolite powder for your horse?

That's the question, and it's clearly a matter of taste. It's equally fine: both are 24 microns, and in the pellets, this exact powder is then pelletized again into 4 mm diameter pellets. Both must be dissolved in the feed anyway, insists the Austrian Feed Safety Authority (AGES).
I'll show you how to dose it. The pellets are easy to dose, of course, and they definitely don't create any dust. That's also the reason why we pelletized it, simply because many customers have requested it. And others really like using the powder because we can mix it really well with the horses. In smash or over the hay, and then the horses don't even notice. That means your horse will probably decide, and we have a little bag here that you can order if you want to try out whether your horse likes the pellets. We also have some gems that really sort out every single thing, and then the powder is just fine. So, as you can see, powder or pellets, you have to decide.

Why should horse feed be optimized with zeolite?

Clinoptilolite zeolite powder is an additive for optimizing horse feed.

Due to its large crystalline surface structure, the zeolite powder for horses can have a positive effect on the composition of horse feed. The zeolite powder can therefore Effectively binds pollutants in horse feed . Zeolite has cavities, channels, and shafts that act as carriers for many substances. The larger the internal surface area (achieved by very fine pulverization), the greater the binding effect of the zeolite powder.

The quality of zeolite powder depends mainly on the grinding (grain size and internal surface).

STEINKRAFT zeolite for horses is finely powdered. For HORSEKRAFT Zeolite Powder PURE, an average grain size of <24 microns was chosen. According to experts, this is the optimal grain size for horses.

So why should you optimize horse feed with zeolite?

  1. Because horse feed can be contaminated with pollutants. Horse feed can be contaminated with pollutants. Feed must be preserved. It's sometimes bought in large quantities, which then sit for a while and develop mycotoxins. A naturopath showed me exactly when mold starts to develop in pressed oats . It happens pretty quickly.
  2. Because the pastures are fertilized with pesticides and artificial fertilizers . Or with manure. Regardless of the animal, the manure is full of germs and chemicals. If the manure is spread with a trailing hose, the solid components remain on the soil and are essentially harvested during the harvest or ingested by the horses.
  3. Because sometimes the water is no longer as clean as it used to be and contains nitrates and other pollutants. Especially in places where synthetic fertilizers are used extensively, the nitrates leach into the groundwater . And what I see again and again is that some horses drink water that flows through old lead pipes .
  4. Because roughage is sometimes poorly dried . This can lead to the feed being contaminated with mold, toxins, and pollutants. Zeolite binds these physically. It's not rocket science. It's not a chemical bond either. It's a natural physical bond, because the high surface area can adsorb these pollutants and transport them out of the animal. It's also called a toxin binder.
  5. Because conventional mineral feed pellets contain additives to make them pellets. These can be anything: various sugars or synthetic binders.

So again: feed can be contaminated with harmful substances. Feed must be preserved, sometimes purchased in large quantities, which then sit unused... the pastures are fertilized with pesticides and artificial fertilizers...

So why do you add clinoptilolite zeolite to the food?

By incorporating zeolite into the feed, not only is its quality optimized, but nutrient absorption in the horse's body is also improved . Efficient nutrient utilization is essential for skin health and coat quality . Optimal coat growth, supported by a zeolite-enriched feed, is reflected in a shiny and strong coat, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also a sign of the horse's good health.

Additionally, the improved digestion promoted by a zeolite-optimized feed can enhance the horse's overall well-being during the often stressful shedding period. Healthy digestion contributes to a strong immune system , which in turn enables the horse to better cope with the challenges of shedding.

It can be said that a feed optimized with zeolite not only supports the coat change by helping the body detoxify and improve nutrient absorption, but also has a positive influence on the general well-being of the horse .

This makes zeolite a valuable supplement to feed, i.e. in the diet of horses, not only during the shedding period.

Why do we recommend adding zeolite?

By incorporating zeolite into horse feed, the quality of the feed is significantly increased while simultaneously improving nutrient absorption in the horse's body. Efficient nutrient utilization is crucial for healthy skin and a shiny, strong coat. Optimal coat growth, supported by zeolite-enriched feed, leads to a radiant coat that not only looks good but also reflects the horse's health.

In addition, the improved digestion provided by zeolite promotes the horse's overall well-being, especially during the shedding season, an often stressful time. Healthy digestion strengthens the immune system, enabling the horse to better cope with the challenges of shedding.

In summary, zeolite not only supports the shedding process by aiding the body in detoxification and improving nutrient absorption, but also has a positive effect on the horse's overall well-being. Zeolite is therefore a valuable supplement to the horse's diet, especially during the shedding period, but also beyond.

As long-time horse experts, we can confirm that adding zeolite to feed brings numerous benefits. Horses often show a visible improvement in their coat quality and skin health. It also strengthens their immune system and supports healthy digestion, which has an overall positive effect on their well-being. If you are looking for a natural and effective supplement for your horse's feed, we highly recommend zeolite.

How to dose zeolite correctly!

How do I dose zeolite powder for horses

Orient yourself on the weight of your horse and the amount of feed*:

Note: HORSEKRAFT is particularly economical because it is so fine that you generally need to use less.

Orientations:

250-400 kg --> here we recommend optimising the feed with 12.5-25g Horsekraft Zeolite**
400-600 kg --> 25-35 g**
600-800 kg --> 35-45 g**
800-1000kg --> 45-50g**

Provide the horse with sufficient drinking water.
* If you want to use zeolite as a treatment, simply increase the dose, but give a maximum of 100g/day or a maximum of 1% of the total feed.
**The included large plastic measuring spoon holds 10g of zeolite when level.

Why is the type of grinding so important?

HORSEKRAFT zeolite pellets are tribomechanically ground.

Pulverized using an air-jet process. This means the inner crystal lattices are opened up and electrostatically charged. This gives the zeolite a high basic energy and purity. With conventional processes, the inner cavities can be crushed and no longer as effective.

The quality and effectiveness of zeolite depend primarily on the grinding process. Grain size, internal surface area, and electrostatic activation are important quality criteria.

Due to its large crystalline surface structure and the associated binding effects, zeolite can have a positive impact on the composition of horse feed. Zeolite contains cavities, channels, and shafts that act as carriers for many substances. The larger the internal surface area (achieved by very fine pulverization), the greater the binding effect on the contaminants. This is why tribomechanical pulverization is so important. Please pay attention to this and ask the manufacturer!

Why is STEINKRAFT zeolite the best zeolite for horses?

  • 100% vegan
  • 100% sugar-free
  • without extenders
  • without additives
  • without preservatives
  • pulverized to optimal fineness
  • tribomechanically activated -> that means no harmful substances from grinding and more sustainable because less powder is needed.
