Horse bedding with zeolite
Dr. Reinhard Tötschinger considers the proper handling of bedding to be of paramount importance – for the well-being of the horses! He repeatedly points out the dangers of the irritant gas ammonia and gives tips on how to keep the stable dry and odor-free.
"I've observed how even the best horses were reluctant to lie down because the bedding wasn't suitable. If it was too hard, for example, their joints would hurt. It's been found that horses don't lie down enough, and this leads to numerous secondary problems. Or the smell was too strong, with too much ammonia near the floor. Some horses lie down despite strong ammonia fumes , but then their heads are too close to the ground, and they inhale the toxic gases. Mares in late pregnancy around the time of foaling are at risk from the toxic gases and from various contaminants in the bedding, which are often invisible, as are the foals themselves in the first days of their lives."
We have always known that horses' lungs are very sensitive to ammonia, which can trigger lung diseases and allergies. If the bedding is too damp at times, it provides an ideal breeding ground for putrefactive bacteria . Hooves and heels can be affected, and thrush or mud fever can develop.
So next time you visit the horse stable, just keep your eyes and noses open.
HORSEKRAFT ZEOLITE BEDDING for dry stalls and healthy hooves
We at STEINKRAFT have considered this problem and developed the HORSEKRAFT product line. With a mix of lime, zeolite, and lavender, HORSEKRAFT ZEOLITE BEDDING ensures dry stalls and healthy hooves.
When you board your horse at a stable, you sometimes don't have a say in the bedding. They use whatever the stable owner deems suitable or has available. That's just how it is.
BUT: You can sprinkle our zeolite bedding over the existing bedding. Sometimes just a little is enough to make a difference.
The zeolite bedding binds ammonia and leads to cleaner air –
This leads to improved breathing in the horse.

What are the advantages of HORSEKRAFT bedding with zeolite for horse stables?
Answer: The benefits include the binding of ammonia, which leads to improved breathing in horses, drier horse stalls, prevention of thrush, reduced germ load, dry hooves, stress reduction for the horses, and the conversion of horse manure into high-quality fertilizer.
How is HORSEKRAFT bedding with zeolite used?
Answer: It is spread directly over the bedding in the stalls, especially over damp areas, and can be applied several times a day. Two small scoops per day are recommended for a stall size of approximately 10 m².

Answer: Zeolite was formed millions of years ago from lava rock and has a microporous structure that makes it an effective "sponge" for binding ammonia and pollutants. It is particularly important for horses with pre-existing lung conditions.
Why is the use of bedding containing zeolite important in horse stables?
Answer: Zeolite in bedding binds pollutants, heavy metals, and moisture, reduces ammonia in the air, and provides a disinfectant function. It helps make the environment healthier and more comfortable for horses.
Can horses eat or roll in HORSEKRAFT bedding containing zeolite?
Answer: Yes, horses can eat this bedding because it contains high-quality feed lime with zeolite. Rolling in it is also harmless and can even help to eliminate parasites in the coat.
