Spring brings new life to everything – decluttering made easy!
Spring is here, and with it, our desire for renewal and change awakens. A great way to make spring cleaning in your home and personal care more sustainable is to use zeolite. You'll be amazed at how many products you can replace with zeolite!
Yes, you read that right: REPLACE with zeolite!
What is zeolite?
Zeolite is a mineral composed of a compound of silicon dioxide, aluminum oxide, and oxygen. It is commonly found in volcanic rocks and has long been used for cleansing and detoxification thanks to its ability to absorb moisture and odors.
Which products can be replaced with zeolite?
1. Deodorants : Zeolite can bind unpleasant odors in the air and can therefore also be used in body care. Instead of deodorants with synthetic ingredients, you can use natural alternatives such as deodorant cream with zeolite. Or you can simply dab some zeolite powder into your armpits for an even drier feeling.
2. Toothpaste and mouthwash : Zeolite powder can be used in DIY toothpaste recipes as a natural alternative to fluoride. Or you can go even more minimalist and simply add a little zeolite to your wet toothbrush and brush your teeth. And a little zeolite dissolved in water makes the perfect mouthwash, as it eliminates bacteria that cause odor or inflammation.
3. Face Mask : You'll never need to buy face masks again if you have zeolite powder (and a few ingredients like honey or yogurt) at home! Simply mix zeolite with yogurt and/or honey, apply it to your face, leave it on for 15 minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. Your skin will feel soft and cared for! Zeolite can also reduce inflammation and regulate sebum production. A true all-rounder!
4. Facial Toner : Have you ever looked at the INCI list of your facial toner? It's shocking how much unnecessary nonsense is contained in some products! There's a much more minimalist and sustainable way: Simply dissolve zeolite powder in water and either dab it onto your face with your hands or pour it into an (old, clean) spray bottle and mist your face after cleansing. Zeolite has anti-inflammatory properties and mattifies the skin.
5. Air freshener : Zeolite can also be used as a natural air freshener. It absorbs moisture and odors, thus reducing unpleasant odors in rooms. Instead of chemical air fresheners, which often contain harmful ingredients, you can simply place open bowls of zeolite in your home.
6. Cleaning products : You can also use products containing zeolite for household cleaning. It helps remove grease stains and acts as a gentle abrasive. There are now various zeolite-based cleaning products on the market, or you can simply make your own scouring cream and cleaning paste with zeolite to save even more on products.
7. Descalers : Conventional descalers can be very aggressive. Would you have thought that zeolite also has descaling properties, meaning you no longer need chemicals? Try it!
We could go on forever! But take a look around our blog. We've already dedicated many, many blog articles to the use of zeolite. Whether it's body care or other household uses: the more products you replace or enrich with zeolite, the more sustainable you become.
Tips for successful and sustainable decluttering:
1. Get an overview : Instead of clearing out the entire house or apartment at once, it is recommended to clear out one room or one category (e.g. clothing) per day.
2. Make a decision : For each item, you should ask yourself whether it's really necessary or whether it can already be replaced. If you're unsure whether or not to keep a particular object, take inspiration from the KonMari method: Ask yourself whether it makes you happy or not. Decluttering this way will leave only items that make you happy in your home. Sounds fantastic, doesn't it?
3. Sort and organize : Once you've decided on the items you want to keep, you should carefully sort and organize them. For example, categorize clothes by type, color, or season and store them in appropriate boxes or closets. And every item in your home should have a designated place where it's always returned as soon as it's no longer in use. At the very latest, at night, before you go to bed. Make it a routine!
4. Reuse or Dispose of : If you decide an item is no longer needed, consider whether it can be reused or whether it should be thrown away. Items in good condition can be given to friends or family, sold, or donated. And then take action right away! Because you know how it is... If things sit around for a while, ready to be given away or donated, they'll re-establish themselves as "roommates," only in bags or boxes. We don't want that!
Mindset for successful and sustainable decluttering:
1. Focus on what's truly important : When you eliminate things from your life, you have the opportunity to direct your thoughts and resources toward the things that truly matter. Focus on what's essential and reduce the unnecessary.
2. Make it a process : Decluttering shouldn't be done overnight. Take your time and make it an ongoing process that will help you live more consciously and sustainably. This will lead to a much more lasting change in your mindset!
3. Learn to appreciate things : By decluttering things you no longer need or want, you can develop a new awareness of the things that are truly important to you and that you value. Reduce your consumption and learn to appreciate things and experiences more.
